As the Spring 2021 season starts to wind down, it’s important to take stock of what we’ve gained over these past few months of anime. We’ve seen outstanding animation, witnessed tragically beautiful stories, and... oh yeah, found a bunch of new husbandos to simp over! Here are five of our favorite guys from this season of anime!
Moriarty the Patriot is an alternative take on the classic Sherlock Holmes story, instead of focusing on the protagonist’s archnemesis James Moriarty. In this continuity, Moriarty (also known as the “Lord of Crime”) is actually three people: mastermind William, his loyal brother Louis, and their adoptive noble brother Albert. Together, they strive to take corrupt aristocrats down a peg and restore equality to Victorian London... through whatever means necessary. Naturally, many of their friends and enemies are also alternate versions of Sherlock Holmes characters, from deep cut references like criminal associate Sebastian Moran to the great detective himself. In the anime’s second cours, it introduces even more familiar faces from the Arthur Conan Doyle canon in new and exciting roles, so let’s take a look at them now!
Even though the Spring 2021 anime season is still underway, we’re already smitten with several of its new characters. Mischievous gals, troubled military men, ghostly samurai assassins... honestly, this season has had our simp sensors tingling since day one. So let’s talk about five of our favorites, shall we? Exciting original series, hyped-up sequels, fresh and tasty memes... we love everything that comes with a new season of anime, but one of our absolute favorite parts is letting the flood of opening themes wash over us so that we can pick out the best ones and play them over and over again until we’re reciting the lyrics in our dreams. Veteran bop machine Black Clover, unfortunately, won’t be making an appearance this time because its anime is on hiatus, but we’ve still got plenty of terrific tunes for you to add to your playlist. Beautiful anime boys are a sign from the heavens that life is still worth living, despite everything that this year had to throw at us. To be true, were it not for the sparkling smiles and unrivaled badassery of these husbandos, we may never have made it across the finish line to 2021.
